Stakeholders moved forward a governance framework for Liberia’s .lr country domain.
The LTA brought together members of its Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Council to report progress on reclaiming and redelegating .lr, Liberia’s country-code top-level domain, and to hear their views. The work, with partners from technology, government, telecommunications and finance, aims to give the domain a reliable framework managed in Liberia.
Under the plan, the domain’s technical infrastructure would be hosted at the Cable Consortium of Liberia facility on Lynch Street, with a qualified local team running it day to day. Commissioner Angela Cassel Bush, head of International Gateway Services and Internet Governance, chaired the meeting, and the LTA’s ccTLD consultant, Olu Olutola, joined online.
Participants from government, civil society, academia and the private sector welcomed the progress and confirmed their support.
