At the third annual Mano River Union Internet Governance Forum, held in Paynesville, LTA Board Chairperson Clarence K. Massaquoi urged Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire to align their policies and build connected infrastructure, so that internet access across the four countries becomes more affordable and reliable.

He named cybersecurity, data protection, consumer protection, innovation and digital inclusion as shared priorities, and argued that because data moves freely across borders, regulation has to look ahead and regional cooperation has to lead.

Estelle Akofio-Sowah, West Africa Regional Director of CSquared, called for stronger land networks and a digital corridor joining the four countries, in place of separate national networks. Deputy Minister for Energy Charles Umehai added that connectivity depends on reliable and affordable electricity.
