The LTA opened a consultation on draft Telecommunications Infrastructure Regulations and invited stakeholders to comment.
The LTA held its first public consultation on draft regulations for telecommunications infrastructure on 9 October 2026, at the RLJ Resort in Paynesville. Mobile network operators, internet service providers and other stakeholders reviewed rules for how infrastructure is put up, shared and taken down.
The draft encourages operators to share infrastructure rather than duplicate it, and brings Liberia in line with International Telecommunication Union recommendations. It also addresses public health, safety, aviation and the environment. Licensing and Regulation Commissioner Ben A. Fofana called it a first proposal that still has to be reviewed and validated, and stressed coordination with the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation, the Liberia Electricity Corporation, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ministry of Public Works.
Commissioner Patrick Honnah asked participants to point out unclear provisions and to propose changes that protect consumers. The licensees present offered to help tighten the definitions and wording before the regulations are finalised.
First reported by LTA on 15 Oct 2026. This is NIIP’s summary of that report.
